Florida Flood Insurance: How Residents Can Obtain and Benefit from It

Flooding is a tragic event that damages countless homes and can cause injuries to hundreds of people each year. What many individuals do not know is that flooding can occur just about anywhere in the United States. Excess rain and broken drainage systems are just a few of the many causes of flooding all across the country. Despite the fact that flooding can occur anywhere in the United States, there are some areas that are more prone to flooding than others.

Each year, a large number of individuals move into the state of Florida. Due to its warm temperatures and beautiful weather, Florida has not only become a vacation hotspot. Florida has also become a popular place to live. Despite the fact that Florida is almost always beautiful, it does have its fair share of bad weather. When this bad weather comes it is often in the form of a hurricane.

Hurricane can bring high winds, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and large amounts of rainfall. When it comes to a hurricane it has been said that flooding is a large concern in Florida. Many individuals are unable to pay out-of-pocket to repair their flood damaged homes. That is why a large number of Florida residents obtain flood insurance coverage.

The National Flood Insurance Program, which offers affordable flood insurance to all Americans, takes a number of factors into consideration when deciding on coverage plans.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has developed Flood Rate Maps. These maps are used by the National Flood Insurance Program to determine the risk associated with providing flood insurance to a specific household. In addition to the Florida Flood Insurance Rate Maps, the National Flood Insurance Program may also take into consideration what Florida has done to prevent or limit the amount of flooding that occurs in their area.

Florida flood insurance that is backed by the National Flood Insurance Program and the Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sold directly through the program or through a licensed agent. Purchasing Florida flood insurance from a licensed agent may save Florida residents additional money. Due to state laws on rebates, flood insurance agents are able to offer insurance coverage for a discounted price. In fact, AmeriFlood is currently offered a 12% upfront rebate discount on all plans.

Florida flood insurance is a must have for all state residents. When the next hurricane makes landfall, do not be unprotected. You are encouraged to contact a flood insurance agent today to obtain a free flood insurance quote.

Life Insurance Take A Last Gasp And Count The Savings!

6:25 AM

We're not being insensitive, honestly! We're talking about your last gasp of smoke - have you given up smoking recently?

Did you know that smokers paying up to 60% more for their life insurance cover compared to non-smokers. So, besides the health dividend and the money saved on cigarettes, insurance companies will chip in with lower life insurance premiums. And the insurance savings aren't to be sneezed at! A typical policyholder could save at least ?10 or more per month.

With most insurance companies, you qualify for non-smoker premium rates if you haven't smoked or otherwise used nicotine products, within the last five years. Now five years is a long time to wait for the extra spending money if you've only recently given up smoking. However, people in the know have pointed out a way to speed things up.

They point out that some insurers have adopted a more relaxed definition of a non-smoker. Some insurers have shortened the 5 year smoke free period to just twelve months. So if you haven't smoked for a year, find out how much you can save by moving your life insurance to one of these insurers. But be careful. You must never cancel your existing policy until you've received written acceptance from the new insurer.

How do find the right insurer?

First go onto Internet because that's the best way to find cheap insurance. Then search for a life insurance broker that fulfils three criteria:

The broker must search the whole insurance market for the lowest price - this means that they will find the cheapest insurance company for you.

The broker must be prepared to discount the prices - they achieve this by rebating some of their commission back into your policy. That ensures you get a really cheap quote.

They'll phone you with the quote and provide further help - this is essential as the chances are that the price they will initially phone you with, will be from an insurer using the a five-year smoking definition. You have to tell them that you need the cheapest quote from a company using the twelve-month smoking definition . That means they'll have to call you back after doing some digging.

If you use a web site that provides an immediate on-screen quote, you won't know whether the quote provided comes from an insurance company that uses the 5-year or 12-month smoker definition. Online systems never tell you. That's why you need to be able to speak to a life insurance adviser on the phone so you can explain what you need. Of course, to be able to be able to make a direct comparison with your existing policy you need to get a quote on an identical policy that terminates in the same year as your existing policy.

Once you've got the right quote, you'll be able to see much you're likely to save. So if the price looks right, make a full application.

One of the main aspects that will affect your premium is your age. Therefore, if your existing policy was bought some years ago, the savings could be less than the 60% we have indicated. However, life insurance is one of those things that's become cheaper over recent years - so until you get the figures in front of you, the savings are hard to predict. You'll just have to get a quotation and find out! As all the brokers we know are only too pleased to provide free quotations without any obligation, you've nothing to lose and possibly lots to gain.

After finding a cheap quotation from an insurer with the 12-month smoker definition, you'll have to complete a full application form. Be sure to read every question carefully and answer all the questions fully and honestly. Far too many people try to ensure they qualify for a low premium by being 'economical with the truth'. Don't be tempted. If there is a claim, the insurer will recheck the information you provide, even if it's many years later.

Over the last few years insurance companies have become more choosey about whom they accept on standard insurance terms - that's the first price you were quoted. The company's selection rules about health and weight have become far tougher resulting in more clients having their premium loaded. That's why you must not cancel your existing life policy until you've got a final acceptance notice at a price that gives you the savings you're looking for.

Whilst the process to switch a policy may sound a little daunting, it isn't really too bad. Just think of the money you'll save! Just reward for the stress of giving up smoking.

Best of luck.

IRA Beneficiary Planning Strategies

6:26 AM

Here's an estate-planning technique that allows you to lower the tax sting to your heirs, and that reduces your retirement income in case you don't think you will need all of your Individual Retirement Account funds in retirement. It's called a 'stretch IRA,' or 'Multi-generational IRA,' a complex investment tools that allow you to extend the tax-deferred status of your IRA long after your death.

By naming your children and grandchildren as the beneficiaries of your retirement assets, you enable them to stretch out the annual distributions of that IRA over the course of their lifetimes.

Structuring the stretch
There are four primary approaches to structuring a stretch IRA; the traditional, spousal-rollover, participant-direct and the mixed, or combination, approach.

In the traditional set-up, your spouse is the primary beneficiary and your children or grandchildren are the contingent beneficiaries, however distributions and income tax deferral are extended only through the life expectancy of the oldest beneficiary. By using the Spousal Rollover Approach instead, your spouse remains the primary heir and children or grandchildren become the beneficiaries with their own IRAs. This strategy allows the distributions and income tax deferrals to extend through-out the lifetime of the beneficiaries you name. That, in turn, provides significantly more tax deferral and a much longer opportunity for that IRA investment to grow.

If neither you nor your spouse need to dip into the IRA during your lifetime, you could also consider structuring your multi-generational IRA using the Participant Direct approach, which can provide the greatest tax benefit of all.

Using this strategy, you'll be asked to break up your retirement assets into several different IRAs like the spousal rollover-except that your children and grandchildren, not your spouse, are listed as the primary beneficiaries, so you can lower the amount of the minimum distributions you are forced to take out once you hit age 70-1/2, and leave more money behind for your heirs.

Lastly, there's the Mixed approach. A combination of strategies from the stretch IRA, it is structured as a spousal rollover with the remainder under the participant direct category. You may want to give this strategy a closer look if the surviving spouse does not need the IRA assets, but reigns while he or she is still alive. Consult a qualified financial planner experienced in Stretch IRAs for more specifics on these plans and which approach is right for you and your family.

Group Critical Illness Insurance - The Cheaper Alternative To Keyman Insurance.

6:25 AM

If you manage a small business you'll dread the possibility of a member of your team being be taken seriously ill or dieing. Apart from the personal upset, your business would be hit hard. Sales or production could take a dive, key skills could be lost and the general pace of the business could fall. All this costs the business money.

Insurance is available to offset those financial risks, risks that can be especially serious for smaller businesses. After all in smaller businesses other employees can't be moved across to fill the gap - there's simply no one spare. So the problem remains until the person either returns to work or is replaced.

If the person is off sick with a serious illness such as a stroke or a heart attack you simply don't know when, or if, they'll return to work. It could be a month, six months even a year or more. Management is then caught in a cleft stick. Do you take on a temporary employee, contract out or recruit a permanent employee? Or are you forced to tread water and wait for matters resolve themselves? That's risky. And how much will all this cost the business in terms of extra overheads, lost sales and profit?

Keyman Insurance has traditionally absorbed these very real financial risks but nine out of ten small businesses still don't carry that insurance. It's either because they haven't addressed the problem or they've found Keyman Insurance to be too costly.

A Simon Briault, a spokesperson for the Federation of Small Businesses said, 'In an ideal world, small firms would be insured against everything, but reality demands the businesses prioritise threats and occasionally take risks'.

But there is a cheaper alternative. It's called Group Critical Illness Insurance. And it's about half the price of normal Keyman Insurance!

With Group Critical Illness Insurance, the management decides which employees to insure and how much to insure them for. The business then pays the premiums and receives any lump sum payout. A claim can be made as soon as any of the insured employees are diagnosed with any critical illness which is scheduled within the insurance policy. As you would expect heart attacks, strokes and cancer are the biggest three biggest reasons for a claim but the full list of insured critical illnesses is much longer. For example, kidney failure, meningitis, paralysis and even blindness.

The important point to realise is that to make a claim, the insured employee must survive at least 28 days after their critical illness is diagnosed. (Some insurance companies have now reduced this to 14 days so please check before you buy.) Therefore, if the employee were to die before the end of the survival period, any claim would be invalid. In that context, it's not as comprehensive as full Keyman Insurance - but at around half the price of there has to be some compromise!

Simon Burgess, the MD of British Insurance says: 'Group Critical Illness Insurance is a real alternative to full Keyman Insurance - and at around half the cost, it's great value for money. If managers find Keyman Insurance too expensive there's little excuse for not covering the biggest part of the risk with Group Critical Illness Insurance. Don't pay the price for apathy'.

Comparing car insurance online the easy way

6:25 AM

Perhaps one of the easiest ways of comparing car insurance online is to go to the website of a car insurance comparison site, such as Tesco Compare. If you chose to take this option you can quickly and easily compare the cost of car insurance, as well as other policy features and benefits. This would help towards you getting the best deal on your motor insurance premiums.

Of course, comparing car insurance deals online isn't just about the price (though, of course, it is a major consideration!) While we all want to make savings on our car insurance it's probably best to consider more than just the cost of the policy. A cheap policy that doesn't include what you need or is unsuitable could just be a waste of money and could end up costing you more in the long run should you need to make a claim.

So, there are many factors which could be taken into account when you are comparing car insurance online. Here we take a look at some of them.

Different types of cover

The first decision you'll be faced with is what type of car insurance would best suit your needs. There are three choices which are: third party only, third party - fire and theft and fully comprehensive. Third party car insurance offers the minimum amount of cover that allows you to drive on the road legally. As the name of the policy would suggest it basically provides cover for the 'third party'. This means that should you cause an accident, any third party costs (such as damage to the other person's vehicle) would be paid for by your insurer. However, any damage to your vehicle would not be covered and you would have to fund the repairs out of your own pocket. This type of insurance might be a consideration for you if your vehicle is very old and is not worth much.

Third party fire and theft insurance includes everything that third party only covers, however it also provides cover for your own car in the event it was damaged by fire or was stolen.

Fully comprehensive car insurance is the all-singing-all-dancing type of protection, offering all the cover provided by third party, fire and theft insurance plus the costs of any damage to your car, even if you caused the accident. Some providers also offer other additional benefits such as free handbag cover, legal cover, a courtesy car and No Claims Bonus protection. It really makes sense to see what each insurance provider offers as these can vary.

Making comparisons

Once you have decided which level of cover would be the most suitable, you can then start comparing car insurance online. Check out the terms and conditions carefully, as these can differ greatly with each provider. There can be exclusions for example. These are the things that could stop you from making a successful claim. The amount of the standard excess, which is the sum of money you would have to pay in the event of a claim before the insurance kicks in, can differ between policies. Therefore, make sure you compare policies like-for-like.

Comparing car insurance online is like having hundreds of the top UK car insurance companies right there in your own living room. Finding cheap, suitable car insurance has never been so quick and easy.

American TV Company helps Family get Life Insurance

6:26 AM

Around one-third of Americans get their life insurance through their profession but what if purchasing life insurance via an employer goes wrong?

Sarwara Faruque's family found out the answer to this after they were forced to stage a nine month battle to claim the life insurance money their mother had invested for her children in the event of her death.

Faruque worked for a company called 7-Eleven for more than seven years and saved the amount for her children's educational funds. To prepare for the worst, she also paid regular amounts into her life policy offered by 7-Eleven.

However, in 2007, Faruque was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer and died after a month struggle. For the family though, times were to get much harder.

A battle to claim life insurance
When the family tried to collect their mother's $45,000 life insurance policy, the company that handled the cover, Excellerate HRO, denied their claim. The company stated that the policy was cancelled because Faruque did not pay the premiums while out on sick leave.

However, it appeared that Excellerate HRO were incorrect, because a clause in Faruque's policy stated if she could not work because of her medical condition, she did not have to pay her premiums any longer and would still remain covered.

For nine months, the family tried to get help from 7-Eleven but with no avail. Tanija Faruque said: 'We didn't get any answers. We were going back and forth. And they knew, they knew that my mother passed away. And they knew it was a rough time for us.'

Therefore, through desperation the family hired a lawyer to settle the matter. Alicia Paulino Grisham, the family's lawyer commented: '7-Eleven abandoned the Faruque family, and they disregarded the wishes of their employee. The reason that she was paying for coverage was because she wanted to protect them and they didn't care.'

According to Sandy Praeger, former president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, third-party insurance providers have little incentive to care.

Praeger said that the federal Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) safeguards companies like 7-Eleven from punitive damages: 'Their only incentive would be wanting to keep good employees. They are insulated.'

Praeger said the only way for a change is if more employees complained: 'Establishing a pattern relies on employees complaining, and often times they don't. 'They don't get the benefit because they just, they throw up their hands and say, 'Well, I have no recourse.''

Once a TV programme 'Good Morning America' contacted 7-Eleven over the matter, the company sent a statement acknowledging the mistake and apologised for the misunderstandings. Less than a week after the Faruques received a check for $45,000.

Tanija Faruque had the last word: 'My mother was a very hard worker. Very loyal, very honest. You know, after she died, this is how they repay her? No.'

Compare home insurance online to get cheaper cover

6:25 AM

One of the easiest ways of getting a good deal on your buildings and / or contents cover is to compare home insurance online. By using a home insurance comparison website, such as the Tesco Compare service, you can compare policy features and benefits as well as that all important price too, and all from the comfort of your own home.

First of all, before you even start comparing home insurance policies, it's important that you understand the cover available in order to get the right deal for you.

There are two types of home insurance you need to consider - buildings insurance and contents insurance. Buildings insurance is often obligatory as mortgage lenders usually insist on you taking this form of protection.

Buildings insurance covers the outer shell of the home as well as any fixtures and fittings that are classed as non-removable. This could include bathroom ware and a fitted kitchen. However, it would not cover your personal belongings. The insurance typically protects against any loss or damage sustained by fire or other disaster. If for example, your home burns down to the ground, then the insurance policy will usually pay for all the rebuilding costs. The majority of buildings insurance would include protection against occurrences such as fire, flooding, subsidence and damage caused by vandalism.

It's down to the homeowner as to whether they take out home contents insurance to protect their belongings. It's not compulsory to take out contents insurance, but it is worth considering the massive impact that losing or damaging your possessions would have. The cover protects your personal belongings within the home from furniture to CDs, clothing to saucepans and even the wallpaper! You can also pay an additional fee to cover some items away from the home (such as cash or laptops).

The home contents insurance can protect against the financial ramifications of loss or damage caused by fire, flood or theft and other events. You also take out additional cover in the form of accidental damage insurance.

What to consider when comparing home insurance online

Making sure that you have adequate protection is essential. So when you compare home insurance online you need to have clear figures in your head as to what your buildings and / or contents are worth. For home contents insurance, make an estimate of the value all your possessions within the home. One of the easiest ways to do this is to go through your home and jot down everything you own. When doing so take into account all the items that are hidden away in cupboards and drawers. Also remember items that are stored in your loft and wardrobe as it can be surprising how much even the smallest things add up to when combined together.

For buildings insurance, many insurers offer unlimited cover (up to a ceiling limit), but do check with them to ensure that your home will be fully protected.

Buy both policies together

If you want to take out contents insurance and buildings cover then you could save a great deal on the cost if you take these out together from the same provider. You could get a discount by buying the cover this way, so do check out what deals are available.

Finally, another way to get lower premiums when comparing home insurance on the net is by altering the amount of excess you would pay in the event of a claim. The excess is the amount you would have to pay before the provider would step in and pay the rest. There's always a minimum amount you have to agree to pay when taking out cover, but you could opt to pay a higher excess to keep down the cost of the policy.

A Special Car Insurance for Teenagers

6:25 AM

As new cars are coming every day in the market, the lust for purchasing a personal and latest car is also increasing in the population. The majority of population includes the teenagers. Though a teenager may drive a car but he or she may not meet the required age for driving license. Therefore it is important for the parents to see that their children fall in the category of license owners before owing them a car.

The problem does not end over here. The next step is a tedious one as one has to search for an optimum insurance scheme for the car being purchased. The license making does not require a heavy research but while selecting out an insurance scheme one should carefully choose out the scheme where he also has to makes sure that there is no hidden clause which would create trouble while claiming the insurance money on damage.

It is also a common fact that if the bank notices that the owner of the car is a teenager, then the premium charges charged are too high than the normal ones. Therefore one should consult out at least two to three places before actually finalizing the concerned agency. In order to select out a suitable deal for a teenager the following points should be kept in mind: -

1} in order to get away from the suspicion of a teenager not able to drive the car according to the rules which often leads to charging of high premium rates, one should have a 'clean driving record'. A clean driving record includes no violation of the traffic rules and no issuing of the 'speedy tickets'. In the case of a clean driving record, it is very easy to get the insurance scheme with the lowest premium rates.

2} while choosing out an insurance scheme one should make sure that it should have maximum possible deduction. If not, then it is better to try another one.

3} it is always better to choose a car for the teenagers equipped with maximum safety features. This point would prove out very helpful as the premium rates are inversely dependent on these. The higher the safety features, the lower the premium rates.

4} in order to avoid the problems while renewing of the policy, it is important to make teenagers responsible to pay out the premium for the policy.

Top 5 Factors Determining Your Car Insurance Rate

6:26 AM

Auto insurance can be confusing and mind boggling sometimes and it's hard to determine exactly why some individuals are receiving rates which are lower than others. There are many factors which contribute to the rate of auto insurance, some you have control over and others you don't.

Below you will find valuable information regarding the factors which are compiled in order to determine the rate of your car insurance. These will help you understand important aspects of auto insurance and why some individuals receive higher rates than others. Here are the top five factors which auto insurance companies will consider when determining your rate of insurance:

1. Age - Your age will greatly affect the rate of your car insurance. Teenagers and individuals who are just beginning to drive will have higher rates for no reason other than their age. There is nothing you can do about this, as you get older and become a more experienced driver your rates will go down. Although they will go down, they will not stay down. When you reach a certain age your car insurance rates will go back up because you are an elderly driver and your eyes and coordination may not be as effective anymore.

2. Auto Insurance Companies - This is a factor which you have control over. Some car insurance companies offer lower rates than others for many reasons. It is up to you to choose which one will benefit you the most both now and in the long run.

3. Gender - Whether you are male or female will also affect the rate of your car insurance. This is yet another factor which you have no control over. Females generally have lower car insurance rates because according to insurance companies men are seen as potential dangerous and careless drivers who are more likely to be involved in car accidents.

4. Type of Vehicle - As much as we would all love to be driving a shiny silver Porsche Boxter all around town, the insurance rates for these types of vehicles are unreal. If you want your auto insurance rates to be low, I would suggest driving a car with a lower price tag. The more money your car is worth, the higher your car insurance rate will be.

5. Driving Violations - This is another factor which you have control over. I know how tempting it is to race your friends the moment you get your license for the first time, but the amount of money you will pay in the long run hardly seems worth it. Health Insurance And Insurance Brokers

6:24 AM

If you are in the market to purchase your own health insurance coverage you can save yourself precious time and money by shopping and comparing policies right online. Sites dedicated to giving you quotes on various types of insurance make it very easy for you to get an idea of what your coverage and costs will be. However, please be forewarned that there are some pitfalls in using an insurance broker as I discovered within the past year.

As a self employed person, I carry my own health and life insurance for my family. When making the move from New Jersey to North Carolina in 2004 I knew two things about our health insurance:

1. I would have to shop for a health insurance provider covering North Carolina.

2. Rates would be cheaper than in New Jersey, with costs being about half of what I had been paying and with slight better coverage.

Several weeks before we moved I contacted a well known internet insurance broker and received quotes. We selected one company and received the paperwork from the broker about ten days before our move. Quite frankly, I wish I had started the process a little earlier as all of our free time was dedicated toward preparing and making the move. So, I ended up packing the paperwork with my personal stuff and was only able to fill it out and submit it one week after our arrival in North Carolina.

Dealing with the online insurance broker was a simple task, but I soon discovered that they were an extra step in the application process, one that only slowed down our approval.

Once the paperwork was received by the broker, they acknowledged the same via email and mentioned that they would review our package before forwarding it to the health insurance company.

Over the next couple of weeks we received messages from the insurance broker stating the following:

1. We are in the process of reviewing your application.

2. We have sent your application off to the insurance company.

3. The insurance company has your application and will be reviewing it in about one week.

4. The insurance company expects a delay in reviewing your application due to the high volume of applications received.

5. Please do not contact the insurance company directly; we will keep you posted as to the status of your application. Yeah, right.

Originally, we were assured by the insurance broker that the health insurance company would review and approve our application within two weeks. Follow up phone calls by us to the broker along with several exchanges of emails revealed that this was not going to happen. In addition, when we contacted the health insurance company directly - at the encouragement of the broker - the health insurance company had difficulty finding our application. Within a few days the application was found sitting in another department; our contact at the health insurance company blamed the broker for sending the information to the wrong address.

As it turned out, the original insurance quote we received online was off by just over 20%. Once the health insurance company determined that certain pre existing conditions needed to be factored in our rates rose accordingly. Of course, when working with the internet broker we knew that the rate quoted wasn't 'absolute' but the big jump was still a bitter pill to swallow.

Among our thoughts at that point in the process were:

1. Had we known ahead of time that our 'final rate' would be so high, we would have shopped around some more.

2. Because of the delays and the passage of time, we needed to complete the application process as our coverage with the NJ health provider would need to be canceled, preferably by the end of the year.

By the middle of December, a full ten weeks after we submitted our paperwork, we received official notification that our application was approved and that we were covered. During the last couple of weeks of the lengthy application process we contacted the health insurance company directly several times to learn what the status of our application was. At no time during the process were we assured that we would receive approval; essentially we were told that coverage would begin pending approval.

In conclusion, I offer the following recommendations for shopping for health insurance:

1. Comparison shop online. Get quotes through the online brokers to get a general idea of what your costs will be. If you have pre-existing conditions, the prices quoted will not be reflected in your quote.

2. Narrow down the list of companies quoted to three and then contact them directly. Bypass the broker as they are an unnecessary additional step in what certainly is not a quick approval process.

3. If you need insurance by a particular date, apply well in advance to allow for delays, for misplaced paperwork, changes in your application, etc. Our insurance coverage was approved effective a specific date, but we were able to move it to another date to coincide with the dropping of our NJ health care provider.

In all, the experience was wearisome at times and a real eye opener. I know you see ads all the time for online insurance quotes. I am not saying to avoid the sites, but please consider what we went through before using an online broker exclusively.

The Two Basic Kinds Of Life Insurance

6:25 AM

Life insurance offers every consumer a way to take care of loved ones for years to come, even if he or she won't be around to put food on the table. The basic idea of life insurance is that during an insured person's lifetime, he or she makes monthly payments to an insurance company. When the insured person passes away, the beneficiaries of his or her policy, usually immediate family members, make a claim and the insurance company writes them a check for the value of the policy. In many cases, the amount the beneficiaries receive is higher than the amount of money the customer put into the policy.

There are two basic kinds of life insurance. The first, called term life insurance, is bought for a discrete period of time at a fixed premium. It includes nothing above or beyond a basic death benefit. This is an increasingly popular form of life insurance. The second kind of policy, known as a whole life insurance policy, is a bit more complicated. A customer contributes to his or her whole life insurance policy on a monthly basis for the duration of his or her life. The premiums fluctuate over time, and tend to follow a gentle upward curve as the customer ages. In addition to including a basic death benefit, whole life insurance includes an investment component that is meant to help the customer grow his or her wealth. This makes whole life insurance substantially more expensive than term life insurance, but many people argue the increased fees are worth it because you get more for your money.

How much life insurance you need has quite a bit to do with how much you can afford to spend on a life insurance premium each month; but it has equally as much to do with how much coverage your family's lifestyle and situation requires you to have. It is a good idea to try to provide your beneficiaries with a policy that will offer them enough to cover your funeral expenses and to continue to meet their living expenses for as long as possible without facing financial hardships. There are multiple worksheets available online that can help you make an educated estimate as to how much coverage you should aim for, but it is crucial that you discuss your situation with an experienced and trustworthy professional before you make any firm decisions about what kind of life insurance policy to purchase.

Why Do So Many Advisors Struggle Selling Fixed and Indexed Annuities?

6:26 AM

Would you agree that the primary advantages of a Fixed Annuity over a CD are that annuities generally provide a higher rate of return, they have better guarantees, and the interest isn't taxed until it's used! Then, why is it so hard to convince a CD owner to convert to a fixed annuity?

Would you also agree the primary advantages of an Indexed Annuity over Equity Investments, Managed Accounts and Mutual Funds are that the prospect has the potential to reap the upside of the stock market, without the downside risk to their investment principal. Plus, an Indexed Annuity has a minimum guaranteed interest rate and the returns aren't taxed until the money is withdrawn. Then, why do advisors have a hard time closing sales for Index Annuities?

There are many reasons why many advisors are having trouble selling Fixed and Indexed Annuities. Part of the problem is most advisors are selling a product, instead of a solution to the prospect's problems. They are selling features, instead of presenting benefits. Most advisors are NOT making a connection with their prospects. They are NOT building trust and rapport. They are making things too complicated. They are using technical jargon. They are in front of the wrong prospects. And unfortunately, the list goes on and on!

Here are SIX simple solutions that will help you to immediately sell more annuities!

1. You must make sure you are in front of the right prospects for you! Most advisors are focused on attracting high net worth prospects, which puts them in direct competition with every other advisor. Then, they wonder why these prospects want to talk to their Attorney, CPA, Stock Broker, etc. before they make a decision. There are many niches within the annuity markets. You have the low, middle and high net worth people. Within those markets you have pre-retirees and retirees. There are CD owners, mutual fund investors, stock owners, widowed women, annuity owners, tax-free bond owners, IRA owners and the list goes on and on. Each of these niches has a different concern, problem, attitude, likes and dislikes. You have to decide which of these niche markets is right for your expertise, experience, knowledge and products.

2. You must write and speak at a sixth grade level! Then, even the college professors can understand you! And, you must stop using technical jargon. Most advisors are confusing their prospects by being too technical and going into too much detail. If your prospects are even the slightest bit confused, then why would they want to set an appointment with you, or buy from you?

3. You must build trust and rapport! Whether you are conducting dinner seminars, free educational workshops or just talking to people on the phone, you must be able to demonstrate to your prospects that you truly understand their concerns and their problems. For example, the vast majority of advisors are only getting a 30% appointment rate from their educational workshops and dinner seminars. Then, only 30% of those people are actually keeping their appointments. The main reason for the low appointment rate and the cancellation of appointments is the advisor is not helping the prospect to see how what they are presenting relates to the prospects situation. Most advisors tend to lecture to the prospect. Or, they are trying to educate the prospect. They are not getting the prospect emotionally involved. The advisor is coming across as a sales person instead of an advisor. There is no trust or rapport being created.

4. You must help prospects to identify what their biggest concerns are for themselves! You can't assume anything. You can't assume they understand their real problems. You must get them to really talk about their situation and tell you how they feel about what's happening. You must do a complete, thorough fact-finding interview to help your prospects to truly understand their problems. For example, initially many retirees will tell you that their biggest concern is outliving their money. Yet, when you do a complete, thorough fact-find you might find that they have plenty of money, based on their current life style. Their real problem is they are afraid to take the income they want each year. So, they aren't able to do the things they really want to do! Or, maybe they are afraid they'll need long term care and they won't have enough money to make sure they have choices as to their care. Or, they are afraid their spouse won't have enough money when they die, because their spouse will lose their pension and social security! Or, they want to make sure they have money to pass onto their children, or a charity.

5. You must really listen to what your prospect is saying! When you're really listening to someone's words, you become connected with that person. And, isn't that the kind of connection that we all want? You can't sell unless you truly understand your prospect's problems and what they really want. You must sincerely listen to the prospect, so you can ask the right questions to clarify the prospects current situation and feelings. However, listening is less important than how you listen. By listening in a way that demonstrates understanding and respect, you build rapport with prospects, and that is the true foundation from which you can sell your prospects.

6. You must stay in constant contact with your prospects and your current clients! It's a simple rule of marketing, the more you stay in front of people who can do business with you, the more opportunities you have to earn their business. If you don't stay in touch, you'll be forgotten. And, if your clients, prospects, and business associates forget you, then they certainly won't do business with you (or refer people they know to you). Staying in touch is NOT about hounding your prospects and clients until they buy from you. It's about keeping in constant contact with them in positive, non-threatening ways. It's letting them know what's going on, showing them you care, sending them reminders and providing information that's of value to them.

If you want to sell more annuities, then you must practice the above six simple solutions! These six simple solutions are what we focus on in our systems and with our coaching. It's why the advisors we work with are able to set appointments with 70-90% of their seminar attendees. And, why these advisors are able to collect a million or more of annuity premiums every month!

How to get a lower health insurance quote

6:26 AM

A health insurance is usually provided by the employer or through some government program. If that is not the case, then it has to be acquired from a private insurance organization. When it comes to identifying lower quotes, a lot of research is necessary. A variety of tools need to be deployed to ensure that the lowest quote is obtained. The Internet can be used to do extensive research in this regard. There are quite a few websites which offer services to find the most ideal and lowest insurance quotes.

The alternative method would be to consult a local insurance agent or broker. Consulting these professionals would certainly help a person to gauge the market trend. An insurance broker would be aware of state and federal legislation and regulations pertaining to health insurance plans. There are umpteen numbers of policies offered by a host of insurance companies. The insurance brokers would also be well-equipped with information pertaining to insurance companies and types of coverage that each insurance plan would offer. Hence, they would help asses your needs and suggest a solution that meets your unique requirements. In that sense, insurance agents help in saving a lot of time that would have to be spent in identifying the ideal policy, filling out applications and submitting them to the appropriate offices.

Independent brokers do not work for any other agency. In theory this would ensure that they are unbiased and would provide highly personalized attention. Even after purchasing the insurance, these agents would help in getting the most out of the coverage plan. There is also a 75 year old association for insurance agents and brokers called the National Association of Health Underwriters. An agent belonging to this association would certainly be a good choice.

Consumer Guides to Individual Health Insurance, Group Health Insurance, Continuation of Coverage, Long-Term Care and Health Care Coverage Options Database are few of the resources which provide extensive information about private insurance companies and critical information pertaining to them. These resources could prove to be invaluable in choosing the right insurance plan. Another way of getting to know about insurance plans is to post queries in insurance related forums. A majority of doctors also have a fair knowledge about the health insurance plans. A strategy deploying a combination of these resources would help in obtaining a lower health insurance quote.

When looking for a low insurance quote you should consider a wide variety of factors. Because online insurance companies often have a much lower overhead they can often offer you prices unparalleled by other competitors. That said, however, they cannot always offer you the individual care and guidance that brick and mortar agents and brokers can. Consequently, it is important when shopping to sample as wide a variety of sources as you can in attempting to attain the best insurance quote.

Most Important Covering Points in Auto Insurances

6:24 AM

Buying auto insurance is a necessity these days. As per the recent amendments in the traffic rules and laws, this law has been passed that all of the vehicles should be insured. The insurance now is so necessary even the distributors or the car sellers are providing the car insurance facility at their showroom also.

There is a huge variety of auto insurances available from which one can make a choice. Also there is a lot of competition in the insurance companies and this is the reason they provide different and additional benefits. Usually most of the companies provide the similar matter but the thing where they create a difference is in the style of presenting it and also they name it in a different manner or with a different theme.

Usually before signing up for auto insurance people do not care much about it and even sometimes they are not aware that what they will get in this particular policy or plan. These are the consumers which are misguided by the insurance agents as these agents focuses on their commissions.

There are many different things which may or may not get covered in the plan you opt. There is no harm if a person keeps an eye over the facilities and the services they can avail through their insurance policy. The easiest way of being aware of all the things is to know that what are the different plans available in this segment and which one suits your needs.

If one does not care about all these things then the entire invested in the insurance would be considered as a waste as the person won't be able to utilize the services because he is unaware.

Here are few points which a good insurance policy must cover:

Liability Coverage

This is the most important that one should be aware of. There are two types of liability coverage that is property damage and bodily injury. Both of these covers are very important and also there are certain restrictions from the govt. that there should be particular amount coverage for both of these in each and every policy. So one should be aware that what is the minimum, required limit in his state as it varies from state to state.

Collision Coverage

This coverage is not required under law but usually people it is taken by those people who get their car financed as the vendor may need this.

How To Make A Claim On Your Basic Homeowners Insurance For Medical Negligence?

6:25 AM

Most basic homeowners insurance will have legal expenses insurance attached to it. This may include cover for medical negligence claims. You will need to check your homeowners insurance policy to see if you are covered.

What is medical negligence?
If you have undergone medical treatment which you believe was not carried out correctly and this has caused you further injury or further loss, you may have a claim for medical negligence. It is not the same as a personal injury claim. This means you may be able to pursue a legal action against them for compensation.

This area of law is complex and the claims are by no means straightforward. Your legal expenses insurance may be able to fund a solicitor to take the case on.

What do I need to prove?
There are two main issues you will need to prove when bringing this type of legal claim.

Firstly you must be able to prove that the treatment provided to you was not of a reasonable standard. The basic test is whether a reasonable body of practitioners would have treated you in the same way. If the answer to this is yes, you may not have a claim. Unfortunately there is no straightforward way of knowing whether you do have a claim or not, this can only be determined once expert medical evidence has been obtained. It is worth noting that a very high percentage of medical negligence claims do not succeed. This could be for many reasons but for example, it could be that a medical expert believes that the treatment would have been the same even if it was provided by a different practitioner.

If you are able to prove that the treatment provided to you was negligent or fell below reasonable standards you have passed this criteria. The second part of these claims is showing that the poor treatment caused you further injury or further loss that would not have occurred if the treatment was carried out to a reasonable standard.

Unfortunately sometimes the nature of the disease or illness is such that the outcome would have been the same, regardless of the standard of treatment.

If you are able to satisfy both of the above criteria you may be eligible to bring a claim against them for compensation. In this case, you should contact your basic homeowners insurance legal expenses provider as soon as possible and register your claim. Normally they will arrange for a claim form to be sent out to you. You should complete this form as accurately as possible and return it to them without delay. It is usual that you will be asked to send a chronology of events to enable the claims assessor to understand the circumstances of your claim.

Even basic homeowners insurance policy will have different policy wording with different conditions and exclusions. It is common for basic homeowners insurance polices to exclude any claims arising from negligent medical treatment or perhaps for claims which do not arise from a sudden or a specific accident. It would be a good idea to check your policy wording for such exclusions.

In addition some basic home owners insurance policies will require you to obtain and provide expert medical evidence at your own expense to support your claims that your treatment was in fact negligent.

AUTO INSURANCE FOR TEENS

6:27 AM

Auto insurance for teenagers can be much more expensive than for adults because reports consider teens to get more into accidents than adults do. There can also be additional expenses depending on car type and location. What you need to do is try your best to get a lower price with better coverage. Once you are through with your market research you are ready to delve in the bigger problems.
A good money saving idea is to include your teen to your existing auto insurance policy rather than get him a new one. This will give your teen the status of occasional driver and save you the extra cost of a principal driver policy.
The type of cars that will get you a high costs are mostly sports cars and brand new ones. Four door cars cost lower than two door cars. You should remember to get a lot of liability coverage on your auto. Consider getting liability coverage rather than collision insurance.
Even after you have bought the insurance you can keep checking for better rates because teen insurance prices tend to drop in about six months or so. You can also get new discounts offers for your teen in this way.
You can pay for your child's insurance as long as you want but it is a good idea if you plan to give them some responsibility teaching by making them responsible for at least a portion of the cost of auto insurance, and also for any increase due to traffic violations. This way you can also teach them to be more careful.
