It has been suggested that if dealers of second - hand commercial vehicles are trying to attract van insurance customers looking to update their van wheels in 2009, then they should keep calm and a 'cool head'.
EurotaxGlass's said that retailers should be able to steer out of the financial crisis by focusing on their local market and supplying the models that their customers want.
George Alexander, the company's spokesman said that remaining positive in the current credit crunch is very difficult and proves to be a challenge for sellers in the UK.
Alexander stated: 'If the next couple of months are going to see demand slipping further ... when supply grows and business is traditionally slow ... the first requirement is to keep a cool head.'
Alexander advised retailers that the only way they were going to be able to keep their heads above the financial waters is to concentrate on offering van drivers what they need at a price they want and can afford.
In December, the company suggested used heavyweight commercial vehicle retailers could improve their chances of achieving sound profits at the beginning of 2009 by investing in quality and reliable stock.
New Citroen Model
Meanwhile, there is another way for van insured drivers to save money, and this comes in the shape of the new Citroen model.
According to the manufacturer, the Dispatch 1200 XTR+ enhanced traction van could persuade even the most burly van driver to succumb to its charms because it offers excellent on and off - road performance.
The model also offers more payload capability than many 4X4s and also provides greater load security and three-way load accessibility.
In addition to this, the vehicle does not have the operational limitations and increased costs that are commonly associated with a 4X4 van. Any driver interested in the latest model can snap one up for 17,445 plus VAT.
Citroen's commercial vehicles operations manager Richard Handyside said he was pleased and confident that the new addition to the company's family will be popular with the customers.
Mr Handyside said: 'The new Dispatch 1200 XTR+ van significantly expands the appeal of this versatile International Van of the Year 2008 range.'
Citroen have every right to feel confident, as last year they claimed to have had its best year ever in terms of independent awards for its light commercial vehicles.
A spokesman from another van company was also confident that van sales will be high this year and advised buyers to get in there quick, stating: 'Once January has passed, the deals will be gone as well, so customers are advised to act quickly if they want to take ad-van-tage.'
